![]() One of Oregon’s largest crops is called “forest products” and Christmas trees fall into this category. Too soon? Well my friends xmas tree harvest has been well under way for weeks now. Like clockwork on November 1st of each year the harvest begins. We don’t have xmas trees on our farm so we just watch and listen, but getting prepared for harvest begins a few weeks earlier. And right after Halloween the buzz of the helicopters plucking trees and flying them to nearby trucks begins and doesn’t die down until mid December. Yes, some farms use helicopters in the harvesting of xmas trees. I snapped some pics of a tree farm about two miles down the road. That's a lot of trees waiting to head out! Where will you be getting your tree from this year? How far do you think your tree will have traveled? Or, will you pick it yourself? If you live close enough we will recycle your tree for you! As long as it has NOT been flocked, glittered or tinseled you can bring your tree out to our farm and our goats will take care of repurposing your discarded tree. They love evergreens!
